Our Company’s History
In early 1982, the founder and President of our company, Harold M. Messick, was employed as the chief appraiser and managed the in house bank appraisal division for 1st Home Federal Savings and Loan in Greensboro, NC.
Around February 1982, the bank decided to close their appraisal division, but was so impressed with Harold’s ability and passion for appraising that they offered to let him open up his own appraisal company within the bank’s facility on Battleground Avenue, near Irving Park. Our corporation was founded in March 1, 1982, and our business occupied three rooms within the 1st Home Federal Savings and Loan building.
At this time, two of Harold’s sons, Jonathan M. Messick and David H. Messick, were still attending college, but were approached by their father to see if they had interest in joining this newly formed company, which they both were very excited to do. After a few years, the business grew, and we moved to the West Market Square Office Condominium facilities at the corner of West Market and Holden. We have remained in this development since the time it was constructed.
For more than 30 years, we have employed numerous appraisers, brokers, and general office employees in the Piedmont Triad Region. Currently, we have six appraisers and two administrative support staff, providing appraisal services for both local and national clients.
Our vast knowledge base in a variety of real estate services and practices sets us apart. Many times the only thing that distinguishes one business from another is how the customer feels they are treated.
